Complete Guide for 2 day trip to Guwahati

April 1, 2025April 1, 2025

Guwahati is the largest city in the Northeast. The capital of Assam Dispur, is in the circuit city region located within Guwahati and is the seat of the Assam State Government. It has the only International airport in the entire region. It provides huge options of tourist spots for both domestic as well as international travellers.

Lets plan your 2-day itinerary in Guwahati. Here’s my suggestion:

Day 1:

  • After you check in to your hotel, start your day with a visit to the Kamakhya Temple, one of the most sacred temples in India and is considered to be the most powerful of the Shaktipeethas. It is located on top of the Nilachal Hill and offers stunning views of the city.
  • Post visiting the temple, one can visit the Assam State Museum, which is the largest museum in the Northeast. The museum has a vast collection of artifacts that showcase the rich cultural heritage of Assam.
  • Now its time for lunch, one can try some local cuisine at Khorikaa Restaurant, Delicacy Restaurent or Paradise Restaurent located in the heart of the city. All of them provides a wide range of mouth watering and traditional delicacies from different parts of Assam.
  • In the afternoon, one can take a leisurely stroll along the Brahmaputra Riverfront or visit parks like Nehru Park or Shradhanjali Kanan.
  • You can take a cruise ride in the Brahmaputra and enjoy the scenic beauty of the river.
  • End your day by visiting the Umananda Temple which is located on an island in the middle of the Brahmaputra River. And after that visit the Sukheshwar Mandir.

Day 2:

  • You can start by visiting the Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary, which is located about 50 km from Guwahati. The sanctuary is home to the endangered one-horned rhinoceros and other wildlife species.
  • After visiting the sanctuary, you can head back to Guwahati for lunch. You can try some delicious street food at Fancy Bazar and visit some of the most beautiful cafes nestled all across the city.
  • In the afternoon, visit the Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra, which is a cultural complex that showcases the art, culture, and traditions of Assam.
  • After that one can visit the Navagraha Temple which is dedicated to the nine planets. The temple is located on a hill and offers panoramic views of the city.
  • For shopping enthusiasts, one can visit different malls like the City Center Mall in GS Road and Central Mall. The city also has a range of pubs and bars for the best nightlife experience.

I hope this guide helps you plan your trip to Guwahati. Let me know if you have any other queries or need further assistance.
